Shadow Prey by John Connolly
Digest Summary: A child psychiatrist
disappeared for five years. Abused children that followed fell back into the hell of rape. The doctor had gone there something to do with it? A grieving father, a former hitman, seems to think. Detective Charlie Parker arrive there to solve the mystery before the corpses from accumulating?
Answer: No, of course. It's going to be dead, the detective is suspected for some murders, the wicked will be punished and all this old history will finally be avenged. Until then, no surprise: it is a classic novel of investigation and well done.
Unfortunately, there are also some passages in the story flirts with fantastic to me frankly annoyed. The supernatural manifestations are too obvious to the pragmatic that I am merely say "Oh, yes, there are unexplainable phenomena in life." But they are not crazy enough to satisfy the reader of fantasy. In short, I liked that the author connects. He writes of the policeman or not?
This indecision has ruined my great pleasure to read and I remembered that it was this mixture of genres that made me stay away from the author for several years. However, if you're the type to believe in ghosts and tables that hit and you do not already know Connoly, I highly recommend it.
