Strands of Eternity - # 28
coverage Martin Pelletier is noteworthy. I know it loses a few names of authors, but the design itself is beautiful. I do not know about you, but I could not help but imagine a world where you might come across a similar beast ... And here I part in the worlds of pure fiction even before opening number! Not bad! ;)
Then I started to read ...
The Old Man and the Moon Valerie Larouche constituting a good entry on. An old man tells his grandchildren stories of the Moon. The writing technique under control, but the story seems a little confused, until we understand the final with that confusion was deliberate.
Confidences Pat Isabelle goes further to go to an industrial robot that has developed a certain distrust of ... I say no more. There have been a little more context to fully appreciate the final I think, but it's still very interesting.
First Act Jean-Pierre Laigle I have not made a great impression. Well written, but conspiracy theories leave me cold already usual, so when they are on steroids breath fantasy or science-fantasy, I landed perfectly. Fortunately, it was short.
Home, sweet home Claude Bolduc is a pure delight: a culture shock sauce SF related with the usual flow of the author. And, like then, after reading Between the arms of lovers gathered by the same author, it seems that a theme emerges. Claude would he recently discovered the joys of owning?
The soulmate Martin Lessard describes the effects an artifact of alien origin on human behavior. I liked everything until the final where it floats reeks of sexism to me frankly disturbed. When an author puts into the mouth of an omniscient entity that the intellect of women is more moderate than that men, it can be used just for its history ... but the reader is likely to ask questions, especially if it concludes the story. In short, final print SF very gender-oriented typical of the years 70-80.
The third dimension Romain Lucazeau me later remission in a good mood. Imagine a variation on Ants by Bernard Werber crossed with a Michael Crichton. A great find, well told, with an ending that leaves us to worry a bit for the characters. Bravo! :)
seidr Marie-Claude Bourjon has the merit of being short. For the rest, having been trained at the school of "clear thinking clearly expressed," I can not enjoy the stories as dream / poetic. I just want to grab the author and shake him screaming "are you talking about EXACTLY KOSS ?!?". short, not my thing. Positive point: it's short!
mechanics of your disappearance Geha Thomas is well written, well built, relatively original in his remarks ... but cold. We do not believe at all in wanting to process that this story is a letter written to his lost love. I suppose there is a symbolic dimension to do with it, with the woman who disappears in a street neglected, but I do not particularly want to look for. In short: bof.
fictions are followed by two articles that discuss the SF. I remember the first (Lilia Kessens) that the French writers of the imaginary becoming interested in the story more than style. As for me, y 'time. When they are rendered to the reader to think, I shall probably read the French with more pleasure. I remember the second that there essayists I will never read with pleasure.
Finally, a great number that I had the feeling of reading very quickly. I think we should blame the quality of texts! :)
(Reading 2011 # 9)
